Cars Produced in China Won’t Be Available in Turkey
Volvo, which has been prominent with its S60 and S90 sedan models and also has a strong presence in the SUV market, has stated that its sedan production occurs in China. Due to the recently announced 40% additional tax on vehicles coming from China, Volvo will no longer import sedan models into Turkey. The company added that it does not plan to sell vehicles until electric sedans are produced.
This decision affects only sedan models and does not impact SUVs, trucks, or other vehicles. Volvo Car Turkey General Manager Alican Emiroğlu noted that they plan to deliver the last of their diesel-powered vehicles this month and clear their stock. They aim to close 2024 with sales figures exceeding those of 2023.
In 2023, Volvo set a record by selling 11,656 vehicles in Turkey, and they aim to increase this number in 2024. Emiroğlu also mentioned that the petrol engine option for the XC40 SUV is no longer available, and they will continue with the electric SUV model EX40. Additionally, they are working to bring the V60 model to Turkey, as there is potential market demand for station wagons. According to the announcements, Volvo will introduce a new electric vehicle each year, with the EX30 model potentially arriving in Turkey after its mid-2025 introduction in Belgium.
